About Fair Indigo

Welcome to Fair Indigo

Just a handful (7 to be precise) of people who are privileged to share a daunting, humbling, but uplifting purpose: we comb the globe--from small towns in North Carolina to highland villages in Peru--to find uniquely beautiful clothes and accessories, all made with immense care by people whose lives have been changed by the availability of safe, clean work, fair wages, and mutual respect for Mother Earth. Our fair trade clothing and gifts help lift people up in the developing world. Made in USA clothing and gifts keep much needed jobs at home. And both of these collections include a large selection of organic clothing.

Our Values

Our fair trade values

Caring for the Earth

We believe to our core that, in addition to treating the workers of the world fairly, it’s important to be good caretakers of the planet. That’s why we offer--whenever we can--organic, natural-fiber, and recycled clothing and accessories that promote a culture of sustainability from dirt to shirt. Embracing this culture supports everything from organic cotton fields in North Carolina to traditional alpaca herders in Peru to a screen printing facility powered by solar and wind.
ORGANIC COTTON just feels right. A staggering 25% of the world's insecticide use and 10 percent of pesticide application are applied to conventionally grown cotton. What's worse, in many countries, cotton is still hand picked - exposing anyone laboring in the fields to toxic chemicals. By choosing organic cotton, you're making a pure and healthy choice for the world, for workers, for yourself. See our organic cotton clothing collection.
SUSTAINABLY HERDED ALPACA is the ethical alternative to factory farm cashmere. Since ancient times, the alpaca has been the cultural symbol of Peru and cherished for its lightweight-yet-warm fleece. In addition to warming heads and hands, our alpaca warms hearts too. It's grown by small-scale alpaca herders in the poorest regions of Peru. See our alpaca clothing collection.
