Talk about reuse, this scarf is made entirely of t-shirts collected from second-hand shops and t-shirt scraps from apparel factories (washed of course).
Each one is truly one of a kind. You may find everything from collegiate motifs to nature screen prints to embroidered monograms. True recycled-chic!
Even better, the scarves are made by adults with cognitive disabilities in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Each purchase supports employment in the US and independent living.
Sandy Martin is the founder and president of Green 3 Apparel located nearby in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Growing up on a farm and later working in the apparel industry traveling all over the world, Sandy came to know firsthand the effects of the industry on farmers, workers, communities, and the environment. Rather than continue to watch, Sandy and her husband Jim, a fellow apparel industry veteran set out on a course to create a cleaner more humane way of doing business.
Part of Green 3's mission is to create a market for recycled and reclaimed materials. They achieve this by working with Aspiro, a non-profit organization in Green Bay, Wisconsin that creates employment for cognitively disabled adults, helping them achieve their goals of economic independence.
