eterna organic pima cotton fabric for organic clothes
Our best selling fabric!

This garment's fabric: Eterna

Our knit stretch jersey Eterna fabric is so silky, smooth, and perfectly substantial without being too heavy. Just a hint of spandex adds incredible comfort and shape retention to your organic clothing. Our fabric starts with the best cotton on the planet, organic Peruvian Pima cotton. Its extra-long staple fibers produce fabrics that are not only silky smooth and soft, but also much stronger and longer lasting. Your organic tee will feel dreamy right out of the bag and endure beautifully for years with minimal shrinking and pilling.

Organic Pima Cotton: the best on earth

Why will your organic cotton t-shirt feel otherworldly soft right out of the bag and endure beautifully for years? Because we use the top 0.05% (not a typo) of cotton available. Softest and strongest aren't often used to describe a single fiber. Except when it's organic Peruvian Pima cotton. Ours is grown on two family farms and harvested with care by hand. Simply the best cotton you'll find anywhere on the planet.

Non-toxic dyes

All of our dyes are certified to the most stringent safety standards such as the Oeko-tex 100 standard. They're tested for literally hundreds of dangerous substances like Azo colorants, formaldehyde, pentachlorophenol, cadmium, and nickel. Our dyes meet or exceed the US Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) regarding lead and the European Chemical Regulation (REACh).

Ethically made clothing feels GREAT to wear

Often when apparel brands talk about sustainability, they are talking about making clothing that respects the environment and its limited resources - something to be applauded for sure. But at Fair Indigo, it also means sustainable lives for the world's garment workers. And a sustainable business model that prices clothing fairly, not too-good-to-be-true low (a signal the people were left out of the equation) nor artificially high to promote a future 70% off sale. It's time to move beyond fast fashion. For good.

Making an even bigger impact

In addition to living wage jobs, we believe the key to transforming communities from poverty to prosperity is education.

The Fair Indigo Foundation funds teachers' salaries, books, building improvements, and computer labs for children who otherwise were being left behind.

Reviews

Perfect white tee

"I ordered this white tee in 2 sizes, intended to return one of them. However, the small fits perfectly for public wear, and the medium is perfect as a PJ top. The fabric is substantial enough that my bra doesn't show through, and I much prefer the scoop neck to a crew-neck tee. The tee washes well with little or no shrinkage."

Finally! The perfect tee

"This is the perfect tee! It’s super flattering. The neckline is a little bit scoop-y but not too much. The fabric is drapey, not clingy (or boxy). The sleeves hit at just the right place, above my bicep, with a look that is dressy not athletic. The length is perfect and it comes in a bunch of great colors. And so far it is holding up perfectly in the wash, no shrinkage. I wear a tee almost every day and am very picky about what constitutes the perfect tee. For a couple of years I have been looking for a replacement for my previous fave, the J. Crew Vintage Cotton tee (which is not longer produced). I’ve bought tees from Buck Mason, The Classic T-Shirt Company, various Amazon options, men’s tees, etc. Didn’t like any of them, mostly because they are boxy and short. Finally, ChatGPT recommended Fair Indigo, along with Fresh Clean Threads. I got a few tees from both, and they are both terrific—I find Fair Indigo to be slightly more fitted. For reference, I am 5’5”, 128, and bought size Small."

Comfortable & Well made

"I have had my fill of cheap tee shirts and tried Fair Indigo for the first time. I'm a fan! The fit and fabric are just what I was hoping for. I'll be replacing my drawer full of pilly, shapeless tees with Fair Indigo. Especially love the cotton with a touch of spandex."

Runs a little large for petites

"I’m 5’2” 114 lbs and the measurement chart suggested size S. But regular sizes are often too big for petites and that was the case here. Wish I’d sized down."

Janet L. (4/5)

"I love where this scoop neck falls: not too low, and also not as wide as is typical! Now I just need Fair Indigo to bring out more light colors/pastels (this works for many people who cannot sweat, but no darker). Then I’ll be all set!"

Michelle (5/5)

The perfect scoop neck

"The scoop is perfect for a modest look. Not too revealing. And the cotton is soft. Love these tees. . . would purchase again."

Carol H. (5/5)

Kelli K. (5/5)

Q&A

Will you be bringing back the white tee with black stripes?
Hello. We won't be bringing back any stripes in the near future. It is something we will reconsider in 2022 and beyond.
Hi! Does this one flare at the bottom like the Forever Organic Easy Tee? That cut was not particularly flattering for me, and I am looking for an alternative, slimmer cut all the way down. Thanks.
This one does flare out a little less. For example, in the Easy Tee the bust for a size medium is 37, while the hip is 42 (a "flare" of 5 inches). In the Scoop Neck Tee the bust is 35 and the hip is 38.5 - a flare of 3.5 inches. The Scoop Neck runs a bit smaller overall and has a bit more shape through the body.
Will white be restocked in small? Thanks!
Sorry our inventory is low in a few colors - we will be restocking white for spring and we're trying to get an earlier shipment (January or February) so please check back with us.
Will the copper and fatigue colors be restocked in small or medium?
Fatigue will be restocked in early spring (and we're adding several new colors) but copper has been discontinued so will not be restocked.
how would you describe the color "fatigue"? Is it more gray, brown, or olive? Very hard to tell on my screen.
I would describe it as gray-ish olive. Hope that helps!
