My favorite pants other than the waistband

"For reference, I'm about 123 lbs with a 29-inch waist, 38-inch hips, and a 33-inch measurement at the widest part of my belly, which is right where the waistband of these shorts sits. I ordered a size small, and the fit is great. I'm very sensory-sensitive when it comes to waistbands. The waistband is about 6 cm wide, but the elastic is only 2 cm wide and is sewn into the very top of the waistband. I would have liked for the elastic to extend through the full 6 cm so the pressure was distributed more evenly instead of cutting into my stomach. This is the same with the waistband on the the Women's 100% Organic Cotton Lounge Shorts. They are long, as others have said but I just roll them up and love them."

Cozy and concealing

"I like the thickness of these pants. They’re not super heavy but not so thin that you see every lump and bump. They’re definitely thicker than the lounge pants, which I also own, and they don’t stretch out as much as the lounge after wearing them. They’re not really summer pants because of their thickness, but I prefer that to the thin ones. I’d actually feel comfortable wearing these out and about. They’re more like a dressier sweat pant that you can dress up a little. Like all the pants they do run long, but since they’re not very wide at the ankle, if you were wearing shoes, they’d definitely keep them from dragging. Also, very comfy around the waist. They don’t dig in. I ordered a large and I’m 33 waist and 40 hip."

Disappointing

"I have an earlier version of these pants without pockets. I assumed these pants would be like the older pairs I own, but the material is a lot thinner and unappealingly slippery; there is an uncomfortable thin band of elastic inside the wide-appearing waistband, and they look more like lounge pants. The older pants do not have the uncomfortable elastic, the material has a nice thickness, and they look dressier. I wish I had ordered more pairs when they were in stock. I appreciate that FI allowed me to return these pants. I only wish they'd consider bringing back the older style and fabric. The elastic defeats the purpose of having a wide waist band for those of us who don't want a thin, tortuous band of elastic cutting into us and it's nice to have pants that be dressed up or down."

"It's perfect for me, except that I had to shorten the inseam by at least 2 inches. Not a problem for me; I have a sewing machine, and because of my loss of height, I expected that. Love the pockets, the quality and simplicity of non-toxic cotton. Fair Trade is really the bonus on top of all this. Finally someone has come along to challenge Blue Canoe's dominance in the organic cotton clothing market."

They used to be wonderful!

"I used to purchase these every year. I purchased several pairs of these and loved them. Lived in them. But they no longer have petite. There are so many women who wear petite! So I don’t know why! To have pants hemmed, it’s $20 a pair at least. So I no longer purchase. My favorite pants are no more for me. 😒"
